The price of a 450 g loaf of bread has been restored to its previous price after being increased by Rs 5 yesterday (Nov 21).
The All Island Bakery Owners Association yesterday said it had decided to increase the prices of bread after wheat flour prices had been hiked by Rs 8 a kilo.
"However, two wheat flour companies informed us in writing that they have restored wheat flour prices to its previous rate," Association Chairman N K Jayawardena told Times Online.
Accordingly, he said that bread prices would be revised with immediate effect.
