Buddhist monk arrested for killing police sergeant
A 37-year-old Buddhist Monk has been arrested by police over the murder of a Police Sergeant who was serving a warrant at his temple.
The suspect had a warrant out for his arrest and had been evading courts. The sergeant had arrived at the temple yesterday to serve the warrant when he was allegedly attacked and strangled by the monk.
After being informed of the incident by area residents, a group of officers had arrived at the temple premises and found the body of the officer.
The suspect, who was present in the temple, had allegedly tried to hurl a hand grenade at police but they had managed to subdue him after a brief struggle.
Further investigations are ongoing.
