Building collapses in Wellawatta: Eight injured, several trapped

A building in Wellawatta in close proximity to the Savoy Cinema has collapsed a short while ago. At least eight people who were injured in the collapse have been admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.

The building which collapsed was a five storey building which was still under construction, according to reports. Several vehicles in the vicinity had also been damaged. 

An undetermined number of people are still believed trapped under the rubble and rescue operations are ongoing to rescue them.
