The cabinet has approved the appointment of School Inspectors to supervise academic activities across all national schools in the country.
This was following a proposal put forward by Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam during the cabinet discussion this week.
Accordingly, 100 School Inspectors would be deployed for this purpose in due course, Minster Kariyawasam said.
Attempts to table a similar proposal before cabinet in the recent past were thwarted due to the strong objections levelled by provincial schools. However, this project will be carried out in future since cabinet approval has been granted in this regard.
