Cabinet has granted approval to initate a project that would see local government institutions in Sri Lanka establishing a stong connection with other institutions of the same level in foreign countries.
The project would see several Memorandum of Understaning's (MoU's) being signed between the local governments of Sri Lanka and other countries under the 'Friendship Cities Concept'.
Accordingly, a proposal in this regard was forwarded by Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Musthapha at yesterday's cabinet meeting.
The proposal had called for a committee comprising representatives of all relevant ministries and institutions in order to assess the requests for such agreements and take necessary measures in this regard.
