Cabinet approval has been granted to re-enact legalisation to restore the status of Sri Lanka's ancient martial art of Angampora.
Minister of Housing and Construction Sajith Premadasa speaking to media following a Cabinet meeting, said the restrictions that were once imposed on this ancient martial art have been removed and it was permitted from today (March 6) for it to be recognised as a legitimate martial art form.
"Angampora was a martial art system used in battle by our heroic generals during the Wellassa Rebellion to defeat imperialists at the time, " Minister Premadasa said adding that the proposal put forwards was approved by the Cabinet to restore its status.
