The case filed against former Attorney General (AG) Mohan Peiris and two others over a corruption case was fixed for further hearing before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court on June 28.
AG Peiris, former Appeal Court Judge and also former Solicitor General A.H.M.D. Nawaz and former Lanka Electricity Company (LECO) Pvt (Ltd.) secretary M.M.C Fernandinez have been accused of preparing a false document to purchase lands belonging to LECO.
During today's hearing the Bribery Commission informed Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne that the Supreme Court has issued an interim order on hearing the case.
Mr. Peiris is alleged to have prepared a fraudulent Attorney General's report during his term in office, in order to prevent criminal charges being filed against individuals who were involved in several irregularities in the purchase of lands belonging to LECO.
The suspects have been accused of violating Section 70 of the Bribery Act.
