All Catholic Private Schools in the country are set to open on May 14 (Tuesday) subject to the security situation, Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said today (May 9).
Addressing a media briefing convened by the Catholic Bishops' Conference today, the Cardinal said that while they were hoping to open the schools on the 14th, the decision was still not final as they continue to observe the country's security situation.
"We want to be absolutely sure before we open our schools because we don't want a single child to suffer as a result of any unwanted attacks," the Cardinal stressed.
He added that if there were any further signs of security threats, Catholic Private Schools will be closed till after Vesak.
