Champika questions how Perpetual Treasuries acquired Rs.23 billion

Speaking at the Parliamentary debate on the COPE Report on the Central Bank bond issue, Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Patali Champika Ranawaka questioned how Perpetual Treasuries, which had assets of Rs.310 million, could suddenly amass profits in excess of Rs.23 billion within the span of a year and a half. 

Minister Ranawaka further stated that the two Treasury Bond issues in 2015 and 2016 had resulted in the loss of Rs.12,899 million that was due to the Treasury. 

The Minister said he hoped that the Presidential Commission appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena would conduct an impartial investigation into the issue within a short space of time.
