UPDATE: Suspect involved in murder of Chief Incumbent of the Mapalagama Vidyathilaka Pirivena arrested
Update : The suspect involved in the murder of the Chief Incumbent of the Mapalagama Vidyathilaka Pirivena was arrested by Police a short while ago.
The suspect was arrested while he was at a bus stand in Wanduramba, Police said.
Further the suspect has been identified as Guruge Gunadasa a resident of Lelwala, Wanduramba
Chief Incumbent of the Mapalagama Vidyathilaka Pirivena killed : Police
Chief Incumbent of the Mapalagama Vidyathilaka Pirivena has been murdered inside a chamber in the temple last night (April 30) the police said.
Initial investigations reveal that batons and poles had been used as weapons.
It is believed that the reason for the murder was an argument over money with a lay person who was working at the temple had got out of control.
Nagoda police are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspect.
