The Chinese government has donated 2,750 metric tons of rice to be distributed among the disaster affected families in the country.
Acocording to the government news portal the first consignment of 1,000 metric tons was handed over to Disaster Management Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa by Chinese Ambassador Yi Xianliang at the Southern Terminal of the Colombo Port recently.
Secretary to the President, Austin Fernando, Disaster Management Ministry Secretary Kingsley Fernando, Additional Secretary S. Amalanathan and National Disaster Relief Service Centre Director Chaminda Pathiraja were also present.
