Sri Lanka will see a sharp drop in Chinese arrivals during this peak season as cancellations are on from China owing to the coronavirus that has hit China.
Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) President Mahen Kariyawasam told the Sunday Times Online that almost all are cancelling tours to Sri Lanka and local companies have been asked to cancel tours from China.
This is the peak season for travel by Chinese nationals as they celebrate their New Year in February.
Hotels and Destination Marketing Companies (DMCs) will be at a loss, Mr. Kariyawasam said.
Visas are discouraged for Chinese from areas identified with the virus, he explained. (SD)
