Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne yesterday (Oct 24) ordered the arrest of the suspects involved in falsely claiming ownership of a land worth Rs 24 million in Talaimannar.
A complaint had been filed with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in 2015, alleging that former Northern provincial councillor Rifkhan Bathiudeen, had been involved in the case.
Lawyer Manju Sri Chandrasena on behalf of the complainant, in a motion told court, that the supporters of Bathiudeen had threatened his client demanding the withdrawal of the case.
Accordingly, the Chief Magistrate ordered the CID to arrest the suspects alleged to have been involved in the case.
