Colombo traders ended shares on mixed sentiments at the Colombo Stock Exchange on Friday after the ruling SLPP powered to a landslide win at the parliamentary polls.
The All Share Index was down by 0.01 per cent to close at 5,176.48 with S & P up by 0.34 per cent to end at 2,227.19 on a Rs. 1.5 billion turnover.
Atcham Srirangan, Assistant Manager Research Fixed Income Securities, First Capital noted that the market had anticipated the eventual election result (an SLPP win). "Some retailers wanted to sell immediately after the election and they did today."
Especially Fridays during the last few weeks has seen a lot of pressure and today was no different, analysts said.
Mr. Srirangan said that buying will resume from next week onwards with more stability in the political environment. (DEC)
