The Government has appointed a three member committee headed by State Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to look into acts of revenge committed against administrative officers under the previous Government.
The committee was appointed after Cabinet approved a proposal submitted by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Prime Minister Rajapaksa had noted that there were over 1000 complaints over acts of political revenge enacted against administrative officers during the previous Government. They include being sent on compulsory leave and even removal.
The committee headed by Minister Abeywardena has been instructed to submit a report to the Prime Minister in four months, whereupon action will be taken to compensate those found to have been politically victimised.
