Two train compartments suddenly detached and separated from a train travelling towards Colombo from Vavuniya at around 5:45 am today (Jan 23).
Officials of the Railway Control Unit said that the incident had occured on an Intercity Express Train.
However, no passengers were injured due to the incident.
Efforts are currently underway to restore the compartments.
