The Appeal Courts today fixed the case against Government Medical Officers Association’s (GMOA) President Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya over contempt of court charges on August 2.
The case filed by two civil society activists filed a Contempt of Court action in the Court of Appeal was taken up for hearing today.
The petitioners seek court's directive to punish Dr Padeniya for undermining the Court of Appeal judgement to register South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) MBBS graduates at the Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) as medical practitioners in terms of the Medical Ordinance.
The case was taken up for hearing today before the two bench comprising Justices Rohini Walgama and S.Thurairaja.
