A court today (Jun 25) instructed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to conduct a probe against Police Chief Pujith Jayasundara for verbally abusing a police official.
Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake called for an investigation into the incident in which Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jayasundara had arrived unannounced to the CID before yelling abuse at police officials in an elevator.
During today's hearing, the CID informed court that a probe could be launched into the incident under Section 344, 346. and 483 of the Penal Code over charges of harassment and threatening an official.
Accordingly, court granted permission to launch a probe into the incident.
