The Colombo Magistrate’s court has issued notice to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to appear before the court over the case concerning underworld criminal ‘Kanjipaani Imran’ who is being held under detention orders.
M.N Mohammad Imran alias ‘Kanjipaani Imran’ had filed a motion through his lawyer claiming that the CCD had reported false facts against him to court.
The motion had been filed by President’s Counsel Thirantha Walaliyadda on behalf of the accused who is currently detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act by the CCD.
Previously, court had heard that 27 cases were pending against Imran for committing, plotting and abetting murders.
He had been taken into custody upon arrival from Dubai, where he was arrested along with a 31-member group including notorious criminal ‘Makandure Madush’ at a party, over the possession of narcotics.
