Notices were issued on the Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and five others to appear before court over the decision to temporarily ban Muslim traders from the weekend fair in Dankotuwa.
These state officials were notified to appear before the Marawila Magistrate's Court on June 28, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said today (Jun 25).
Police had moved court since a complaint had been filed against the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman's decision to bar Muslim traders from taking part in the weekend fair.
Accordingly, court had instructed the state officials to appear before court and explain the grounds on which they had decided to impose a ban to that effect.
