Curfew lifted: Kandy peaceful

The 12-hour police curfew imposed in the Kandy administrative district at 6pm yesterday was lifted at 6am this morning. 

While a heavy presence of security forces personnel and police is visible in the district, there have been no major incidents and the area remains calm, police stated. 

Any decision on re-imposing a curfew in the district will be taken taking into account the general security situation, police added.
