Customs officials remanded over Rs.125M bribe
The two Customs officials who were arrested by the Bribery Commission yesterday for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs.125 million were remanded in custody till March 10 today after being produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
The two were arrested as part of a probe being conducted by the Bribery Commission over what is regarded as the largest known bribe detected by authorities. Three Customs officials were initially arrested in October, last year as part of the investigation.
