The Kegalle District has finalised preparations for tomorrow’s local government elections, with all logistical and administrative arrangements in place.
Voting will take place at 583 polling stations across 214 polling divisions, covering 12 local authorities in the district.
A total of 3,337 candidates are contesting for 357 council seats, with 715,565 eligible voters expected to cast their votes.
Counting will take place at 216 centers, with Kegalle Balika Vidyalaya serving as the main center.
Two multi-member divisions—Pethangoda under Ruwanwella Pradeshiya Sabha and Warakapola under Warakapola Pradeshiya Sabha—will function in this election.
Around 6,850 government officials will be on election duty, supported by 1,701 police officers and 570 vehicles.
Six independent monitoring bodies have registered to observe the polls, including the Center for Monitoring Election Violence and the National Movement for a Free and Fair Election.
So far, 196 complaints have been received by the district election office, with 170 resolved. No serious incidents have been reported.
