The councilors of the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) today demonstrated inside the council seeking the immediate removal of the Government Agent (GA) of the Vavuniya district.
Earlier this month the NPC passed a resolution unanimously calling the central government to remove the GA on the grounds that he is not cooperating with the people of the district in his administration work and causing difficulties for the various stake holders to carry out their duties.
While the council is scheduled to have a sitting today, the councilors have been blocking the entrance to the chamber demanding action immediately.
