The head office and all provincial offices of the Department of Registration of Persons (National Identity Card office) will be closed to the public until further notice, Commissioner of the Department Viyani Gunathilake said.
“Those who have obtained a time and date for the one-day service are requested to immediately hand over their documents to the Grama Sevaka of their area or to the Divisional Secretariat. The one-day service charges will not be taken from applicants and they will receive their NICs through registered post,” said Mr. Gunathilake.
He said issuing of National Identity Cards (NIC)’s through Divisional Secretariats will take place.
