Dhammika Ranatunga issued notice to appear in court

The Colombo Chief Magistrate today issued notice to Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA) Chairman Dhammika Ranatunga to appear before courts on March 24 for allegedly threatning journalists. 

The Chief Magistrate gave the order considering a request made by the Keselwatte Police. 

The SLPA Chairman was captured on camera yesterday allegedly threatning media personnel at the premises of the Colombo High Court when the bail application of former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Carlton Sports Network (CSN) Nishantha Ranatunga was taken up for hearing. Dhammika Ranatunga is the brother of Nishantha Ranatunga. 

Dhammika Ranatunga was also seen using his mobile phone to capture the faces of the journalists who were covering the court case. 

The journalists later lodged a police complaint against the SLPA Chairman. 

Ranatunga is also the brother of Minister of Ports and Shipping, Arjuna Ranatunga.
