Driver killed after train collides with car

One person was a killed when a vehicle was struck by a goods train from Galle to Colombo at a level crossing in Magalkanda. The deceased was the driver of the vehicle. He has been identified as a 53-year-old father of three. 

Witnesses claimed that the driver had attempted to drive over the level crossing despite the warning bells that warned of an oncoming train.
