The body of a person who had been attacked before being dumped into a canal in Kantale has been recovered yesterday (Sept 15).
Police said that the incident had occured due to a brawl which had taken place at a party on September 12. One suspect has been arrested so far in connection with the killing.
The victim has been identified as 34-year old Kadiramalai Udayakumar. His remains have been placed at the Trincomalee hospital following a magisterial inquest, police added.
Ajith Gallage, the owner of a Bird Park in Nagarawawa, Hambantota, has been remanded over allegations of concealing illegally imported motorcycles, in a warehouse owned by him.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
