Minister of Ports and Shipping Mahinda Samarasinghe said the Eastern Terminal of the Colombo port will not be handed over to any country.
He made these comments at a media briefing, adding that the matter was discussed by President Maithripala Sirisena when met with Indian Premier Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit and that it would not be handover due to its importance to Sri Lanka.
Minister Samrasinghe also noted that moves are afoot to establish a Western Terminal, adding that the government expects the cooperation of India and Japan to construct the terminal.
