The Election Commission (EC) has decided to destroy around 12,000 cardboard ballot boxes used during the presidential election, a senior official said.
This was after the EC had turned down requests made by certain state institutions to use the boxes for various purposes, after the election concluded last week.
The polls body had purchased special cardboard boxes to be used during the poll, due to the record number of presidential candidates which stood at 35.
