The Election Commission (EC) will issue regulations concerning the presidential election today (Nov 14) for websites of electronic and print media outlets, a senior official said.
Yesterday, the polls body warned that certain media outlets could lose their rights to broadcast election results for failing to provide equal coverage to presidential candidates.
Media outlets were permitted to provide coverage of yesterday’s political rallies until today, as campaigning drew to a close at midnight, giving way for a 48-hour silent period.
However, the EC official noted that laws would be imposed on the websites of these media outlets to avoid promoting a presidential candidate in the eve of Saturday’s election.
