The Election Commission (EC) has warned against the distribution of leaflets promoting presidential candidates at state institutions.
Among the institutions listed out by the polls body, were state and provincial offices, government educational institutes, state corporations, and other related government entities.
EC Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said that it is the duty of the heads of state bodies, and other senior officials to ensure that no such incidents take place.
These instructions had been issued in keeping with a gazette notification published against the misuse of public property during the run-up to the presidential election.
