Eight persons including maths tutor Nuwan Amaratunga are due to be produced before court today (Aug 5) over the assault of a van driver in Kalagedihena last month.
The suspects had been remanded until today after being produced before the Attanagalle Magistrate's court on July 29. They are accused of being implicated in the assault of a van driver after overtaking the vehicle along the Kandy road.
Previously, acting inspector general of police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara had instructed the Colombo Crimes Division to conduct an investigation over the incident.
