Eight Indian fishermen who were engaging in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan territorial waters, northeast of Vettalakerni were arrested last night, Navy said. One of their fishing trawler also seized.
The arrested fishermen were brought to the naval base in Kankesanthurai and subsequently handed over to the Assistant Fisheries Director of Jaffna for legal action. The seized trawler and fishing gear were retained in Karainagar.
