Two Ambassadors and a High Commissioner presented credentials to President Maithripala Sirisena today (Aug 19), the Foreign Ministry said.
Trine Eskedal - Norway Ambassador, Tanja Gonggrijp – Dutch Ambassador, and Sarah Hulton – UK and Northern Ireland High Commissioner, presented letters of credence to the President.
During the occassion, the President had cited the appointment of three females to these positions as a symbol of women empowerment.
He had also pointed out the contribution rendered by women who make-up around 52 percent of Sri Lanka's population, to the country's economy.
