State Finance Minister Eran Wickramaratne resigned from his position today (Nov 19), joining several ministers who gave up their portfolios upon the election of a new President.
In a message posted on Twitter, Wickramaratne announced his resignation, wishing President Gotabaya Rajapaksa “discernment” and wisdom in uniting the people and leading “forward together”.
Rajapaksa was elected President after beating ruling party candidate Sajith Premadasa – the housing minister in the current government.
Wickramaratne thanked all voters who voted for Premadasa during the presidential election.
