Showers or thundershowers will continue in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-western provinces with fairly heavy falls (more than 75 mm) can be expected at some places around the island, the Meteorological Department said today.
Fairly strong winds at times (up to 50kmph) can be expected over the island (Especially in the western slope of the central hills) and strong winds at times in the surrounding sea areas (up to 60-70 kmph).Showers or thundershowers may occur atseveral places in the Uva province and in the Batticaloa district after 2.00p.m.
"There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity," the department said.
