Father and son killed as car falls into stream

A father and son were killed and three females were injured after a car and fell into the Gurugodaoya in Pindeniya in the early hours of today (17).

Police said the driver of the car, which had been traveling towards Avissawella along the Kegalle-Avissawella Road, had lost control of the vehicle, resulting it skidding off the road and toppling into the Gurugodaoya. 

There were five occupants - two males and three females, in the car at the time of the incident. They were rescued and admitted to the Kegalle Hospital, where the driver and a male passenger succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased have been identified as the vehicle's driver (57) and his son (31). Both are residents of Ketakumbura, Kadugannawa. The bodies are lying at the mortuary of the Kegalle Hospital pending a post-mortem examination due to be held today. Pindeniya police are investigating.
