First batch of Navy Marines pass out

The passing out parade of the first batch of the Sri Lanka Navy's new Marine Battalion was held yesterday at the SLNS Barana in Mullikulam.

The inauguration ceremony of the Marine Battalion together with insignia pinning was attended by President Maithripala Sirisena as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne. A total of 164 Marines including six officers and 158 sailors passed out.

The Marines also conducted a drill display showcasing their skills during the ceremony.
