The Fisheries Ministry has instructed all fishermen to avoid fishing between the Mannar and Trincomalee seas due to the inclement weather, today (Oct 28).
In an advisory, the Ministry had also instructed fisheries harbours in those areas to bring back fishermen who had already ventured out to sea, due to heavy winds and high tidal waves.
In addition, only multi-day fishing trawlers have been allowed to engage in fishing between the Trincomalee and Jaffna seas.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted that the atmospheric disturbance in the South-Eastern region of the country, will move towards the West through the Southern region within the next 24 hours.
Accordingly, heavy showers or thundershowers along with heavy winds could be experienced in the South Eastern, Southern, South Western, and Western sea areas, the forecast read.
