Four fishermen were found dead while another two were reported missing after a fishing trawler collided with a vessel in the sea area off Galle.
Navy Spokesman, Commander Dinesh Bandara said the Navy HQś maritime rescue operation room received information of the incident and dispatched a team from the Galle naval base. They were able to rescue one fisherman and found the bodies of four others.
The fishing trawler set out from Beruwala last evening with seven people when the incident took place. The four bodies and the surviving fisherman were handed over to the Galle Police.
Two fishermen still remain missing from the boat. A navy boat and a team of divers have set out to search for the missing fisherman.
