The Department of Fisheries has warned fishermen not to venture out to sea from any part of the island from small fishing boats until September 22.
The warning has been issued due to rough seas and strong winds prevailing around the island's coast.
The Department has also notified multi-day fishing trawlers currently in the Bay of Bengal to steer their vessels to the south. Multi-day fishing trawlers planning to venture out to sea have also been notified to avoid the moving towards the Bay of Bengal.
