Five teenagers including two Advanced Level students of a leading school in Jaffna were arrested yesterday (Sept 11) over the theft of some mobile phones, Police said.
The suspects have been accused of breaking into a shop and stealing 18 mobile phones worth
Rs 2 million on September 02.
Police explained that the arrest had been carried out after tracking down the location of a stolen mobile phone using its IMEI number which had been spotted in a CCTV video footage.
Following the arrest, police had managed to recover 10 stolen phones from the suspects who have been identified as those between the ages of 18 and 19.
The Jaffna Police are conducting a questioning on the suspects.
