Three flights which were schedule to land at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayaka on Sunday night and Monday early morning were diverted to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport and an airport in India, local media reported.
A flight from Dubai was diverted to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport while a flight from Mumbai and Kuala Lampur were diverted to Kochi, India.
Katunayake reportedly had a highest rainfall recording over 250mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours.
