Fonseka gets back voting rights

Former Army Chief  Sarath Fonseka was today restored with his military rank of General and the voting rights,  officials said.

Military spokesman Brigader Jayanath Jayaweera said that the rank and the medals withdrawn have been restored. This follows a presidential pardon given to him last week.
The Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said that with the pardon his voting rights also have been givenn.
Mr Fonseka said he will be contesting the next parliamentary elections from the Colombo district.
