Former Deputy Minister Lakshman Wasantha Perera was arrested by Matale Police early this morning, local media reported. A complaint was filed against him alleging that he assaulted a UNP supporter during a rally in Matale recently. Perera produced himself at the police this morning and he will be put before the Magistrate today. Four of his supporters were recently arrested over the incident and remanded till August 12. An identification parade will be held on that day, Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara told local media.
