Four suspects have been arrested for printing fake currency notes at a residence in Dippitiya, Kelaniya last night (Mar 21).
Details pertaining to this scam had surfaced when three people were caught while attempting to exchange fake currency notes at the Kiribathogda market.
These individuals had revealed that the currency notes were given by another person in order to be exchanged.
The police, accompanied by these individuals had raided the house in Kelaniya following which four people were taken into custody.
A total of 10 Rs 500 counterfeit notes, and 32 Rs 10 notes were seized by the police along with other printing equipment.
The suspects have been identified as 26, 24, and 19-year olds. They will be produced before the Mahara Magistrate's Court today.
