Fundamental Rights petition filed against Rajapaksa

Senaka Perera, a nominee of the Nava Sama Samaja Party national list has filed a Fundamental Rights petition with the Supreme Court todayagainst former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s use of state vehicles and properties for his election campaign.
The petitioner argued that Rajapaksa has an advantage over all other candidates and that it is a violation of fundamental rights of the other candidates.
Meanwhile, the JVP filed  separate petitions at the Human Rights Commission against Rajapaksa’s use of state vehicles as well the petition has been filed by JVP Kurunegala District team leader Namal Karunaratne.
