The Chairman of the Sanasa Bank in Gampaha was arrested today (Oct 17) in connection with the alleged misappropriation of Rs 550 million worth funds of depositors.
Attorney Lalitha Jayasuriya, the Chairman, had been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) after receiving a complaint in this regard.
Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara stated that the suspect had misappropriated funds desposited in some 120 bank accounts.
Jayasuriya, 68, is due to be produced before the Gampaha Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
