A ceremony to mark the completion of one year of democratic governance under the presidency of Maithripala Sirisena, will be held today (Jan 08) from 2.00 pm. to 4.00 pm. at the BMICH in Colombo.
The National Ceremony organized by the Presidential Secretariat will be held under the theme "Compassionate Governance -Stable Country".
The key note address of this ceremony will be made by Gopalkrishna Gandhi, grandson of the pioneer of the Indian independence struggle Mahathma Gandhi. Mr Gandhi, a civil servant and a diplomat, served as Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ministers, diplomats, intellectuals and artists will participate in this ceremony.
